Little Para Pants

One of a kind babies, one of a kind nappies

Why cloth?

So some of you may be wondering, ‘Why would you use cloth nappies when disposables are so much easier?’ Here’s why

  1. You can save up to $1000 a year for every year your child is in nappies.
  2. They break down in landfill much more quickly than disposable nappies. Disposables take about 500 years to decompose!
  3. Cloth is reusable for several children.
  4. Cloth breathes. Disposables keep all the moisture and heat inside. This isn’t good for either sex, but it’s especially troublesome for little boys.
  5. Modern cloth nappies, with elastic in the legs & back, have fewer leaks than disposables.
  6. Babies in cloth get fewer rashes.
  7. Cloth nappies are made with fewer, or in some cases, no harsh chemicals.
  8. Cloth nappies don’t explode when you put them in the washing machine like disposables do.
  9. Children old enough to choose between cloth & disposables choose cloth!
  10. Some sources say that children in cloth nappies toilet train earlier.
  11. It’s easier to tell if your child is well hydrated when using cloth.
  12. By using cloth, we’re not supporting huge multi-national corporations that are only interested in their own — and their shareholders’ — pocketbooks.

Think again about how ‘easy’ it is to use disposable products. Will it be ‘easy’ when your bin is so full of nappies that you can’t fit anything else in with them? Will it be ‘easy’ for your children when their water supply and soil is polluted from disposable nappies in landfill? If you use even one cloth nappy in rotation with disposables, you’ll be making a difference.
